Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 2026

Solvur ("we," "our," or "us") operates solvur.ai and is based in New York. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we share it, and what rights you have over it. By using Solvur, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes by email or by posting a notice on the site. Your continued use of Solvur after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly and information generated through your use of the Service.

  • Account information: When you register, we collect your email address, an optional display name, and a securely hashed password. If you sign up via Google or Microsoft OAuth, we receive your email address, display name, and profile photo from those providers.
  • Problem inputs and session data: The text you submit to Solvur, including problem descriptions, follow-up answers, focus mode selections, and AI-generated recommendations, is processed and stored to power core features such as session sharing, saved sessions, and semantic caching. For registered users, session data is stored securely on our servers and associated with your account.
  • Usage and interaction data: We log which features you use, which focus modes you select, feedback signals such as helpful or not helpful ratings, and general interaction patterns. This data helps us improve the quality of the Service.
  • Payment information: We do not store your credit card or payment details. Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe. We receive only transaction status, your subscription tier, and a Stripe customer identifier.
  • Technical and device data: Standard server logs including IP addresses, browser type, device type, operating system, referring URLs, and request timestamps. This is used for security, debugging, and abuse prevention.
  • Guest usage data: For users who are not logged in, we collect IP address and device fingerprint data solely to enforce usage limits and prevent abuse of the free guest tier. This data is not used for advertising, profiling, or sold to any third party.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To provide, operate, and maintain the Solvur Service
  • To authenticate your account and keep it secure
  • To process payments and manage your subscription
  • To power features including session sharing, saved sessions, and semantic response caching
  • To detect, investigate, and prevent abuse, fraud, and violations of our Terms of Service
  • To send transactional communications such as password reset emails and billing notifications
  • To analyze usage patterns and improve the quality and performance of the Service
  • To comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your problem inputs to train third-party AI models without your explicit consent. We do not use your data for advertising or share it with advertising networks.

3. Semantic Caching and AI Processing

Solvur uses a semantic caching system to improve response speed and reduce costs. When you submit a problem, we generate a mathematical vector representation (an embedding) of your input using Voyage AI's embedding service. This embedding is compared against previously cached responses stored in Pinecone, our vector database provider. If a sufficiently similar query has been processed before, the cached response may be returned instead of generating a new one.

As part of this process, a short preview of your submitted problem text (up to 100 characters) may be stored as metadata alongside the cached response in Pinecone. This preview is used solely for operational and debugging purposes and is not linked to your name, email address, or account. It is not visible to other users.

For queries that are not served from cache, your problem text is sent to Anthropic's Claude API for AI processing. Anthropic's own privacy policy governs how they handle that data. We do not share your name, email address, account information, or any identifying information with Anthropic or Voyage AI, only the problem text you submit.

Two users who submit semantically similar problems may receive the same cached AI-generated response. This is a designed feature of the Service. The cached response reflects what the AI would produce for that type of problem, not any personal information from the original submitter.

4. Third-Party Service Providers

Solvur works with the following third-party service providers who may process data submitted through the platform. Data shared with each provider is limited to what is necessary to perform their specific function. Each provider operates under its own privacy policy and data processing terms. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these providers.

  • Anthropic: AI inference and response generation. Problem text you submit is transmitted to Anthropic's systems for processing when not served from cache.
  • Voyage AI: Semantic embedding generation. Problem text is converted into mathematical vector representations to power our caching and similarity matching system.
  • Pinecone: Vector database storage for semantic caching. Embeddings and short problem text previews are stored to enable fast retrieval of cached responses.
  • Stripe: Payment processing and subscription management. Stripe handles all credit card and billing data. We do not store your payment details.
  • Cloudflare: Bot protection, DDoS mitigation, traffic management, and Turnstile human verification.
  • Google and Microsoft: Optional OAuth-based sign-in, only if you choose to use it. We receive only your email, display name, and profile photo from these providers.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your account data and session data are stored on servers located in the United States. We implement industry-standard security practices including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), bcrypt-hashed passwords, HTTP-only session cookies, access controls, and rate limiting.

No method of data transmission or storage is completely secure. While we take reasonable steps to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

6. Cookies and Local Storage

We use session cookies to keep you logged in across page loads. These cookies are HTTP-only and are not accessible to third-party scripts. They are necessary for the Service to function and are not used for advertising or cross-site tracking.

We use your browser's local storage to temporarily cache session data on your device for performance purposes. This data remains on your device and is not transmitted to our servers independently. Clearing your browser data will remove locally cached session information.

We do not use third-party advertising cookies or tracking pixels.

7. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. Session records and recommendations are retained to power features like saved sessions and shareable session links.

If you request deletion of your account, we will delete your personally identifiable account information and disassociate your session records from your account. Certain anonymized or aggregated data derived from your usage, including vector embeddings and cached response data stored in our infrastructure providers, may be retained for service improvement, operational continuity, and abuse prevention purposes even after account deletion. This retained data cannot be used to identify you personally.

We may also retain certain information as required by law or for legitimate business purposes such as fraud prevention, dispute resolution, and enforcement of our Terms of Service.

8. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:

  • Access: The right to request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
  • Correction: The right to request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal information
  • Deletion: The right to request deletion of your personal information, subject to certain exceptions
  • Portability: The right to receive your personal information in a structured, commonly used format
  • Objection: The right to object to certain types of processing of your personal information

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@solvur.ai. We will respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity before processing certain requests.

9. California Residents (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect and how it is used, the right to delete your personal information, the right to opt out of the sale of your personal information (we do not sell personal information), and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights.

To submit a CCPA request, contact us at support@solvur.ai with the subject line "CCPA Request." We will respond within 45 days as required by law. California residents may also designate an authorized agent to make requests on their behalf.

10. International Users

Solvur is operated from the United States. If you are accessing the Service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer and processing. We take reasonable steps to ensure that your information is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

11. Children's Privacy

Solvur is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18 years of age. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a person under 18, we will delete that information promptly. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at support@solvur.ai.

12. Do Not Track

Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" signal. Because there is no industry-standard interpretation of Do Not Track signals, we do not currently alter our data collection practices in response to such signals. We do not track users across third-party websites for advertising purposes.

Privacy questions or requests? Contact us at support@solvur.ai. We are based in New York and will respond within 30 days.
